Yawri Bay is well known as an important area for residential and migratory birds because of the huge mangrove forests and mud fields. The Conservation Society of Sierra Leone (CSSL) together with national and international partners engages communities around the bay to protect and conserve these mangroves. One of the activities is the establishment of local bird clubs.
